i, too, felt saddened by the abrupt change in holiday cheer between here and the philippines. for one thing, things here are so much more politically correct. for another, christmas in the philippines is still wrapped by that non-materialism which, i guess, i’ve taken for granted in my trying to make my filipino life americanized… while i was there.

Either way, I am comforted by the little anecdote which reminds us that Christmas started in a place no one knew about, and gave us a gift no one expected, on a day wrapped with importance for a totally different reason that it would be remembered for.

Hahahaha, I think that politics is worth focusing on just because, in the larger picture, it determines the way you live your life: the things you are or are not allowed to do, the things you will buy, the books you will read, the lessons your children will study, and even where you’ll be living.

Of course, what pervades right now is an atmosphere of disillusionment. Which is understandable, but not good for us in the long run. (:

I agree with you. It’s amazing how Christmas is celebrated in our country.

waahhh!! i wanted to post something like this before but didn’t have time to do so…

Same here, not much decorations. We don’t have any either except for the Christmas tree. This is a nationwide effect of a very slow economy and how our government sucks!

I like to give presents on the same time receive one especially if you love the person hehehe..

true, we don’t need the decorations. but in order to have that christmas-giddy-yup-giddy-yup emotion we should have these. it always has been a tradition

I don’t watch some news about politics. It bores me. Honestly, I don’t even care. Sometimes I do but most of the time I just been left thinking, why should I focus with this when I have more matters in life to attend to?

It has always been like that, it’s like a dead body being resurrected.

anyway..

it’s true that pacquiao shouldn’t be a role model pero what i see in him is that he gives hope to the filipinos. we all know that there are only a few pure blooded filipinos who have actually achieved in their fields.

honestly tol, nagtabi nga ako ng ilang newspaper articles nung natalo niya si de la hoya hehehe..

it’s good that he has Freddie Roach. like a father to him.
